"To this end, they shall communicate to one another all information of a nature to enlighten each other mutually concerning their own dispositions, as well as those of other Powers. However, if, in the course of events, the maintenance of the status quo in the regions of the Balkans or of the Ottoman coasts and islands in the Adriatic and in the Aegean Sea should become impossible, and if, whether in consequence of the action of a third Power or otherwise, Austria-Hungary or Italy should find themselves under the necessity of modifying it by a temporary or permanent occupation on their part, this occupation shall take place only after a previous agreement between the two Powers, based upon the principle of a reciprocal compensation for every advantage, territorial or other, which each of them might obtain beyond the present status quo, and giving satisfaction to the interests and well founded claims of the two Parties." -Berchtold, Representative of Germany, 5th of December, 1912
Germany had interests in France, and pledged its full support to aid Austria in WWI.
"After completing their occupation of Belgium on August 20, 1914, German forces moved quickly upon France with two armies. Although fighting between French and German forces had taken place in the region of Alsace-Lorraine in southeastern France, the first joint French-British encounters with Germany occurred near the town of Mons along the Franco-Belgian border on August 23, 1914" -allabouthistory101. blogspot.com, 2014 Right: A map of pre-WW1 Germany Source: Paradox Plaza |
Adolf Hitler was one of countless Germans who thought the Treaty of Versailles was unfair and the cause of Germany's economic disaster post WW1. Hitler then founded the Nazi party, using the terms of the Versailles Treaty to unite Germany, take power and to take over lands it had lost through the treaty. After 12 long years of terror and six years of world war, Germany surrendered, Hitler killed himself, and Germany was once again defeated. "It is not true that I or anyone else in Germany wanted the war in 1939. It was desired and instigated exclusively by those international statesmen who were either of Jewish origin or who worked for Jewish interests. I have made too many offers for the control and limitation of armaments, which posterity will not be able to disregard forever -- for the responsibility for the outbreak of this war to be laid on me. I have furthermore never wished that after the first disastrous world war a second should arise against England, much less against America. Centuries will pass away, but out of the ruins of our cities and monuments the hatred will continually grow anew against the people that is ultimately responsible, and for whom we have to thank for all this: international Jewry and its helpers!" -Adolf Hitler, in his Political Testament, his last words to the German People, 1945 Left: The Stars and Stripes Newspaper headline after Hitler died Source: Public Domain |
